The evil behind "The Golden Compass" by jWild
There is nothing wrong with not supporting entertainment that does not appeal to your values. There is nothing wrong with encouraging others with the same values to do the same. In the church though we find a wide rang of values. If you value good Christ centered entertainment than don't watch this film. Watch C.S. Lewis's Narnia instead. It is Christ centered and a far better movie/story altogether.

I appreciated your post. I don't necessarily think that the counsel to pray about the issue of birth control is in opposition to previous counsel to not use it. A little more ambiguous I guess. The new counsel definitely puts the ball back in the couple's court. I think there is a tendency nowadays to encourage people to seek the Lord in their decision making. But I don't think that counsel necessarily negates the doctrine.

busting-mormon-monopoly-on-truth by hi2kolob
I adopted the LDS perspective in 1982 and have been rather abnormal in my fervour to find truth. I have much to learn and find that I learn on every interaction with non-members who have any real desire to know truth and share the truth they have found, no matter how arrogantly. Much arrogance is not intentional and much is only perceived. We would appreciate each other far more if we could spend a few moments from the others perspective. In 26 years, I have never found anything to shake my faith and I never turn from those who would help me see the truth I don't have. I have not read your original blog but strongly support the things you have said in your response to the attach you discribe. Our faith clearly identifies that while theis is the only true church, other faiths have much truth and inspiration, do much good, do much to prepare non-members for the gospel and enjoy inspiration ftom the Holy Spirit. Non-member are not doomed either and many will accept the truth after their mortal sojourn.

Well done. I made the same in Italian with Italian references. I think is a great help to all members!

An analysis of the use of Isaiah by both the Book of Mormon and the "View of the Hebrews" The essay concludes that the use of Isaiah in the Book of Mormon was NOT influenced by the use of Isaiah in "View of the Hebrews."

Faith Promoting Lies by Terrie_Bittner
Actually, where does it say that? It's not in the terms or the FAQ. I did it myself to find out what would be expected of my readers if they used the button. I don't ask them to do anything I'm not comfortable doing myself.
President and Mrs. Bush Deeply Saddened by Death of Gordon B. Hinckley by mowen
Misleading title. They (or a one of their staff) *said* they were deeply saddened - best not to state it like a fact. The description says it better.
Church Public Affairs videos now available on YouTube by LdsNanaAsk
Yes, I agree, they are great. I just started a site and have placed them on various pages to promote the Church. It is so great to have such well done and informative resources as we go out and do what we have been encouraged to do. Thanks public affairs! tDMg LdsNana-AskMormon
The Economist: Nuanced and Fair Coverage of the Church by mowen
The article was good, but not exactly "fair". An think an honest attempt at research was made by the author (though there were about half a dozen fairly obvious inaccuracies). Very positive overall.

I appreciate this article about Sister Beck's talk. I think the huge negative reaction to it is a sad example of the lack of faith in many church members today. I sustain everything she said and know that it was inspired. These are things that the prophets have said before. Women of the church need to decide if they want to do things the Lord's way, or if they have the "confidence" to figure out mothering on their own. Many of the current ideas that women seem to like more than Sis. Beck's, have their origins in worldly philosophies. Our Father in Heaven knows it all. I think we will be better off to be faithful in following His prophets. That's one thing that makes this church so special. We have guidance for our time through living prophets and inspired leaders. Sister Beck has been given the stewardship over the Relief Society. How can the Lord use her if we do not sustain her. She is a wonderfully inspired leader, and I am thankful that she gave this great talk.

P.S. When it comes to assessing the Book of Mormon and the Book of Abraham, there is of course much more to the story. I think the article falls sadly short on this front. Folks at the BYU Maxwell Institute should have been consulted for the rest of the story.

I've also had people tell me I should not like Harry Potter or even Star Wars. Fact is, I enjoy it. Will I watch this? I don't know, I doubt I'll have time so it won't be a big issue, but you want find me out fighting against it.

I've been ward chorister on a number of occasions, and I've enjoyed choosing this song to sing — although the "no end to race" line is a little awkward.
