Everybody is fallible and I deeply question myself and my motivations often, but I can't help standing up for what I believe. I am always willing to listen to other view points, but I am not a "wishy washy liberal." There are some specific things that I believe need to change within the church to keep it healthy.

I think community callings are a much better idea than some made-up callings. (my wife used to be Relief Society center-piece coordinator in her singles' ward).
Sister Sheryl Dew is a great woman, and I would certainly welcome more sisters with that kind of energy and leadership abilities.
Regarding humanitarian aid, doing good + read + pray, proclaiming peace, I think the Church has been doing that a long time. I don't think personal measures on how much the Church should to according-to-myself is a fair and objective standard.
Regarding suggestion 3: why do we need an autonomous Relief Society? I fail to see what that would accomplish, and how that fits with the purpose of Relief Society.
I don't think denying the priesthood to blacks was wrong, I think leaders did the best to their abilities and with the best knowledge and revelation they had. Nevertheless, I don't think a post-facto apology would do anything useful, either.
About liberal profs at BYU: I think this idea shows lack of knwoledge about the BYU community. I guess conservative and liberal Mormons would be surprised to know that *gasp* there are MANY liberal-leaning professors at BYU (I've had several, yes, your Democrat-registered, not-quite supportive-of-abortion-bans, Marx-friendly professor). And they are not in the middle of some persecution or anything.
The whole issue of speaking up against the Book of Mormon is a very specific issue that jeopardizes one's standing in the Church, not just some employment condition. So, with regard to the firings, there is no "liberal" grand theme that the BYU administration is at war with. That is something lefties made up in their pink imagination.
