Sustaind.org is sick. :( If you're a PHP programmer, can you help us upgrade Sustain'd and get it working again? If interested, email richard AT moregoodfoundation DOT org.

As part of this year’s conference, the Salt Lake Tabernacle will be rededicated during the Saturday afternoon session.

Again... a press release. No commentary.

Opposed.

...so start a blog of your own and write some commentary! :)

I already have a blog of my own.

: P

Here, well, here I hope to read the hard-to-find, insightful, or the inexplicably good... something worthy of our time. A press release (that I already get from my subscription to the Church's news room RSS feed) doesn't fit that category.

If this wonderful project is to live up to its enormous potential, then it's up to us to say "no" to low-hanging fruit.

Still opposed.

( PS... the button up by the header that reads the sustain'd score is a little confusing for people who've opposed a story: currently it says "4 opposed". That's combining two disparate peices of information "this story is currently scoring a '4'" and "you opposed this story". Might I suggest decoupling that information for the sake of clarity? )

I still think you should write something about it if you want further analysis. I agree that press releases are of limited interest, but they are also released promptly.

I don't come here to create content, per se, but to find the best of the web as regards the Church. I rely on the community here to winnow out the chaff... and, I suspect, that people who come here and read the sustain'd-only threads hope for the best... we cheat ourselves and the people who look to this as a resource when we let fluff through to the front page.

As for being release promptly: what, we can't wait a couple hours for something of value? Do we really abhor a vacuum so much that _anything_ is better than waiting?

If this is only used by consumers, like you say you are, it with wither and die. It can only succeed if users are actively submitting posts. So if you don't like what you see submit something better.

Concur with circa1978. This line of thought brings to mind Elder Jeffrey Holland's talk -- if you think something is bad, whining about it isn't going to make it any better.

If history is any indication, this next week will have plenty of thoughtful blogs and articles about General Conference that will hopefully meet SilusGrok's elevated standards for sustaining.

I am not just a consumer... in the week or so that I've been a member of the community, I've commented on several posts and posted one article. I'll post again, when I find something worth posting on... in the mean time, I'll sustain and oppose. All are ways I contribute to the community. Post, comment, sustain the good, oppose the mean-spirited, spam, and fluff.

Sounds like a good recipe to me.
