By the way, why are there so many of these places in Utah? Is it a lax regulatory atmosphere? Is there booming local demand?

Good grief, I didn't mean to sustain this. I meant to oppose and just clicked without thinking. At least I canceled myself out. I've wondered the same about this. There have been a couple of these places near us in southern California which turned out to be run by LDS folks. But I don't know really why.

In my town we just subject them to a good old fashion shunning.

But seriously, these places are really controversial, there have been deaths from starvation and beatings. There is very little regulation of the industry and little judicial oversight over what is essentially a juvenile facility.

I've read news articles that say the same thing, that outfits like this one have poor track records and don't always solve the problem. Of course, at least some of the problems I've heard about are at facilities on islands in the Pacific.

Mostly teens are suffering form anger, depression, drug abuse, alcohol abuse, smoking and so on. Therapeutic boarding schools offer an intensive healing approach for such troubled adolescents to bring them on right track of life.
