There was a cartoon in the Salt Lake Tribune (Bagley at his best) recently in which a small Mormon dressed in jockey shorts was playing horseshoes in the yard of a massive mansion. Two fat evangelical ministers were sitting in the background, with one making an aside to the other, "Their welcome to play as long as they don't get uppity." That cartoon captures why I feel so uncomfortable around the current slate of evangelicals. Wane L's excellent article here provides a very good explanation as to why this should be of concern for Mormons. We're more than welcome to play in the political sandbox as long as we play nice, but under the surface we're still heretics.
