From an ABC news report: "Pope Benedict XVI has reversed centuries of traditional Roman Catholic teaching on limbo, approving a Vatican report released Friday that says there were 'serious' grounds to hope that children who die without being baptized can go to heaven." If official, this would make Catholic doctrine more inline with Book of Mormon teachings found in Moroni 8:10-12.

All I can say is, "WOW"

Ditto. Just Wow. What a great comfort to millions of people. Bummer that now we have to switch to the "yeah, but we knew it first" line, but what a great thing for grieving Catholic parents.

This does not bode well for missionary efforts in Latin America, which is predominantly Catholic. Now our missionaries will not be offering much when they comfort people with the doctrine of no need for infant baptism.

I find this fascinating. It's not every generation that the Catholic Church makes a substantial doctrinal shift.

I don't think this is really properly viewed as an "us versus them" doctrine competition. I've always seen any development as positive if it brings things more in harmony with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
