Cutting a Little Slack for Ex-Mormons

In spite of having long spoken in defense of the Church against the criticisms of the "antis," including some outspoken former members, I'd like to confess that there is room for increased respect and tolerance among LDS ranks for those who have left us and even rail against us.

I almost wrote, "if both sides could be more civil," but then I realized that part of the problem is thinking that there are sides. If everyone is just looking for their own truth, then there isn't sides and everyone should just remain civil. But when it people think of themselves on a side of us-verses-them, then it just becomes people looking for a war, and not people looking for the truth.
