salt lake city has the highest # of google searches for "pornopgraphy" in the united states. (5th highest in the world)

seventh highest in US for "playboy"

fifth for "naked pictures"

second for "young teens"

seventh for "sex"

on the other hand it's second in the US for "jesus" and first in the world for "humanitarian aid"

That is kind of interesting as long as you don't jump to too many conclusions. For example, I imagine that most people searching for pornography don't type in "pornography." I would think that the term "pornography" would be used more by professionals talking about the industry than it would be by those providing the pornographic material. Furthermore, I suspect that people from Salt Lake City would be more likely to use the term "pornography" while the rest of the world might just call it "adult entertainment."

If you use google trends, you can separate various keywords with commas to see the relative search volume for each term. Doing this, you can see that the phrase "free porn" is used much more than "pornography," "young teens," and "naked pictures" and yet SLC doesn't even come up in the list of top cities for that phrase.

Interesting information, I just wouldn't say that it's fair to say that SLC is full of people looking for porn.

i agree to an extent. i don't think most people searching for pornography would be actually searching for 'pornography.' however, for some reason i can picture more utahns doing that than anywhere else.

i don't think that google trends indicate that salt lake city has more porn users than other cities, but rather that because porn is not as present in utah, it is more accessed via the internet (as well as because internet porn is easier to access without the nieghbors spotting you).
