Sustaind.org is sick. :( If you're a PHP programmer, can you help us upgrade Sustain'd and get it working again? If interested, email richard AT moregoodfoundation DOT org.

Have any of you ever accidentally answered the phone like this, "Dear Heavenly Father"? Or have you ended a presentation at work, "in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen"? I've almost done that before and caught myself. Here's a short clip of a traffic report in Salt Lake where the reporter does this very thing. Only in Utah!

Last Friday, I had to give a presentation at work and then later had to MC our ward talent night. I kept telling myself over and over before the presentation to say, "Ladies and Gentlemen," not "Brothers and Sisters." I knew if I wasn't careful, I'd flub it.
Will, I've asked my family in Utah to see if they can verify this. If I get verification, I'll let you know.
Part of what makes this even more difficult for me is that before I joined the LDS church, pretty much the entirety of my work history was working for religious employers in my prior religion of choice, where we actually DID have opening and closing prayers in our team meetings, and where we actually DID address each other as Brother or Sister. I guess I am hopeless.
I wonder what other uniquely Mormon "lines" others have spoken at inopportune times.

I have answered the phone by beginning to pray. Twice in my life. And a couple of my kids have done weird prayer things, too. I believe!
