Sustaind.org is sick. :( If you're a PHP programmer, can you help us upgrade Sustain'd and get it working again? If interested, email richard AT moregoodfoundation DOT org.

sustain!
WardSocial is a bookmarking site focused on bringing positive news about the LDS Church to the forefont of the Internet. All the stories and votes are decided on by the user - YOU - all for free!

comments
* Many people contributed ideas to how it worked
* Chance to oppose stories -- vital for eliminating spam
* No ads -- a big plus
* Currently has the most stories marked
Things I like about WardSocial:
* Screenshots of the sites they link to
* Robust filters and search categories
* Relatively pleasing design uses most of screen
Things I like about Came2Pass:
* Clean design that uses most of the screen
* Pop-up screenshots of the sites they link to
* Tagging
I actually like several of the features of the other two sites, but they seem substantially similar in most respects. Sustain'd definitely has the largest body of posts to date, but that could change.
Sustain'd targets a more tech audience - I think it can work in harmony with Came2Pass.com. I encourage you to be a member of both sites! I know I will. Also, compared to Ward Social, Came2Pass.com is growing faster and has many more articles posted and higher votes, increasing each day. There are also many more categories and opportunities for good LDS content. Again, let me know what I can do to make it better and I'll incorporate that into the design.
cboyack - thanks for what you're doing here on Sustain'd. I like what you've produced. I've also heard a lot of good things about you personally! If we can work together at all to make our sites compliment each other more please let me know (you have my e-mail).
I'm not trying to turn this into a flame war, at all, but I wanted to point the obvious.

You be the judge...
"Even the Mormons Have a Digg! A member of the Mormon Church has launched a new Digg-like website, called Came2Pass, focused towards members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As the site states, it's "News for Mormons, By Mormons". Are smaller communities of people catching on to the Digg effect?"
That is similar self-promotion and misleading advertising to what I did.
Yes, I am the creator of WardSocial. I got over-excited about the promotion of something I had worked hard on and acted too knee-jerk on that. But you have done the same.
I honestly didn't know about either of your sites before starting WardSocial, and I'm not really trying to tear down either of you. I'm sorry this has turned into a flame war, I didn't mean for it to.
I apologize for misleading, I shouldn't have done that. That was not my intent when I wanted to start WardSocial.
I wanted to make a site to make a difference, as I'm sure you both did.
WardSocial has no intention of making money off of our religion. However, running a site of this size requires large amounts of bandwidth and space and so hosting costs need to be covered. The site is and will always remain completely free, so ads are necessary to pay those costs. No decision has been made as to what to do with excess revenue generated, but making a profit is not on the list of priorities.

I would really prefer not to have ads, but hosting can be expensive (I'm in the process of switching hosts right now, actually) and I figured ads could keep the site free and still have it paid for. We'll see what happens I guess, because I agree with you.
I'm looking at implementing a "Bury Story" option, but I wanted to hold off to see if there was a need for it (inappropriate submissions, for example) so that legitimate stories weren't buried.
Also, down the list of stories is a story I created called "WardSocial Beta" and I was hoping for the users to submit comments on how they like the site, suggestions, etc. I also have an e-mail address set up if they'd like to contact me that way (feedback@wardsocial.com).
