Many times over the years that I have been sharing my testimony online I have run across active members of the Church, or at least those who say they are active members, who have a very low opinion of The Miracle of Forgiveness by President Spencer W. Kimball. “He wasn’t President of the Church when he wrote it,” they protest. “Before he died he regretted ever having written that book,” I have been told by others. Then why then do I love that book more than any other gospel text outside of the standard works?

I don't want to sound condemning, but the same people who have told me they did not like the book explicitly recognized that it was because they did not want the knowledge of sin, and thus they would not have the responsibility.
On the other hand, that book was a great help for me as I grew up (I read it first when I was about 12 or 13), and what I learned with that book has always encouraged me to try to be better and to stay away from certain things.
