Jana Remy writes a Radical Mormon Feminist Manifesto--and Mormon feminists burn up the comment thread with their responses! A Must Read.

BiV,

I will try saying this more nicely this time, this post is completely counterproductive. I still maintain that it moves even those sympathetic to its base cause away from them. It is confrontational, brash, and assumptive. Certainly anyone who manifests opinions in this sharp and divisive a manner should be prepared for equally sharp and divisive responses. I was merely stating this directly on the thread. I don't see this moving forward the cause of women in the church, but it may make dissidents feel better now that they have spoken. I think Jana seems clearly to be looking for a fight. If that is not the goal, please tell me what it is.

I agree--this document seems to deny the idea of revelation, on which the Church is founded. Were it just a social organization, this would be loverly, but it's not.

Doc and lizmuir, you are kind in your remarks. I will refrain from writing what is on my mind but will say I am really sorry and am sorely grieved that I only have one opposing vote.

This post is not so much being radicals as much as not understanding the gospel.

I repeat one of my observations in that thread:

Being a radical is not supposed to be an end in itself bu rather it is supposed to be a means to an end. Well, at least allegedly. I'm sure it is meant to be a means to an end, it's just that people aren't honest about what end.

I read the manifesto a number of times... all I can say is that they have more faith in the ability of the Church to change than I do. That in itself is admirable...

...I don't know about admirable. More than "faith in change" it is of a lack of doctrinal understanding.

Why do people think the Church is a democracy?

Do all things need to be democratic?
