With the Presidential run of Mitt Romney, the documentary "The Mormons" on PBS, the documentary and book "The Mormon Way of Doing Business", and the movie "September Dawn" coming soon . . . the world will be open to more LDS media than any other time in history. I think it Will bring an added understanding to the world about Mormonism.

In general I think the increased attention is a good thing, even if Brigham Young in September Dawn is played by General Zod (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Zod#Movies). Talk about stereotyping!

The september dawn movie appears to have been made by enemies of the church to present a view of the mountain meadows massacre which is worse than even the most imaginative anti-Mormon historical accounts. From the trailer, it depicts Brigham Young as a fanatical psychopath, and there are scenes that mock sacred things (temple ceremonies are depicted).

Fortunately, it also looks incredibly boring and poorly made, so it's unlikely many people will see it, UNLESS THE LDS COMMUNITY DRAWS ATTENTION TO IT BY THEIR CRITICISM OR EFFORTS TO CENSOR IT. Please, everyone, just ignore this film. Do not link to articles about it. Do not write indignant blog posts about it. Unless the film gains a lot of attention, to the point where we need to defend the actual history of the events in question, our most effective course of action is to ignore it. The people behind it are hoping to profit from this film by stirring up the LDS community. They are relying on offended Mormons to do all their advertising for them. Please don't play into their hands.
