While some evangelical Christians are defending the presidential candidacy of Mormon Mitt Romney from an attack by Al Sharpton, another prominent pastor is going further in his condemnation – saying a vote for the former Massachusetts governor is a vote for Satan. That's the word from Bill Keller, host of the Florida-based Live Prayer TV program as well as LivePrayer.com.

This is awesome! It's as good as the people proclaiming Obama to be the antichrist.

The unintentional hilarity of the religion pages...

Ugh--just ugh...

I can't bring myself to either sustain or oppose it. I mean, i don't want to disseminate it, but then again people should know tah truth of the opposition out there, but still...UGH!

Holy cow. Welcome back to the good ol' Missouri days. I thought it very interesting that Br. Keller was convicted for insider trading (fraud) in 1989. I hope people read to the end of the article and consider the source.

Hey, the guy went from jail to the elevated position of Proclaimer of Damnation on Human Souls. Not bad for a couple of decades of work.

LOL at Sharpton. Silly.

Can I agree with the title on purely political grounds while opposing the religious bigotry that follows? :)

NonArab-Arab, no, you can't, at least not logically and reasonably.

Oh, I don't know, Romney is a pretty open and out of the closet anti-Muslim bigot himself. I for one find supporting one type of bigotry against others while denouncing that used against ones' self as the height of a lack of logic and reason. Romney fits that bill pretty well perfectly. Heaven help us if we are left with the miserable choice of Mitt vs Hillary for president, talk about having to try and choose the lesser evil!

Please don't take it the wrong way, NonArab-Arab, but I can't take bigotry claims seriously anymore. That kind of accusation was abused way too much by liberals to have any real meaning today.

As for Romney, I don't think he's the perfect candidate, but he seems like one of the best out of the lot right now. I truly don't think he "hates" Muslims as much as having to play the party line if he wants to stay on the race. What upsets me more are his ties to the healthcare and insurance industry. But, so far, he seems to be the candidate that upsets me the least out of all, and in general his morals seem to align somewhat with mine (more so that Giuliani and McCain, for example). He seems to be the one with the most solid management and leadership experience (Obama is the media darling and the king of speeches, but he has -0- experience administering something). Also he has been able to pull off crises with low budgets (yea, he rub off the wrong way a lot of skin sensitive Park City people, but you can't manage things properly by being overly concerned about touchy feelings and diaper rashes). He does care about private rights while not losing the big picture about society (something that Ron Paul and his Libertarian ideas can't).

I don't know. I'm not too excited about next year's election, there is no candidate I feel is great. Romney seems like the best one out of a very mediocre lot for me, but I can't vouch I won't change my mind later on.

Oh come on, you just gave some excellent reasons to pick Romney over anyone else. Most of the time, being a good president is three things: image, administration, and foreign policy. Romney is the only candidate that has all of those in spades. There may be a few things about him that aren't great, but to be honest there are far less than anyone else in the past few decades.

(I personally really like a lot of Romney's policies, much more than any other major candidate in years. And if anyone thinks I'm biased for mormons, I wouldn't ever vote for Orrin Hatch.)

Hi Atamido: As I see it, he's got only one out of three. I'll definitely give him administrative abilities, no question. But image? His image is of a completely unprincipled flip-flopper. And foreign policy? For someone so worldy, he's seems deeply ignorant of the world beyond our borders and his foreign policy seems to amount to "torture 'em all and let God sort 'em out". Just what neither the US nor the world needs after GWB, and certainly not what the church's image needs. And as with yourself, it's not that I'm biased (in this case towards lefties as it may appear from the above criticisms), I think Hillary would be as or more horrendous and my favored choice for President at this point would easily be Chuck Hagel if he were to get in the race. Now if we could just get Chuck Hagel to join the church and have more than a snowball's chance in spirit prison of actually winning the nomination... :)

I second the notion to 'sustain the title, but not the bigotry'.

OK then, I'll jump in on the wagon, why not. So there it goes:

A vote for Obama is a vote for Satan. I sustain this sentence, but not the bigotry.
