Sustaind.org is sick. :( If you're a PHP programmer, can you help us upgrade Sustain'd and get it working again? If interested, email richard AT moregoodfoundation DOT org.

Have you wanted to download all your relatives from Ancestral File and import them into PAF? I have, but you can only download four generations at a time, and if a lot of work has been down, this could take many hours. Antone Roundy had the same problem and wrote a Perl script to automate the process: GEDCOM Crawler. I haven't been able to get it to work yet (error on line 71!), but even the possibility is worth posting here.

familysearch is having major server problems, and hasn't worked correctly all week. My friend called her parents who are missionaries working with the new beta familysearch program, and they told her they didn't know when it would be fixed, and confirmed that at least two servers were down. So this might be the problem with the program. And, while it might be time-saving to download them all, you're also downloading a lot of other people's mistakes, which have been matched and merged with other files, often making a bigger mess-- so basically you can download the stuff, but you should view it as a guide to be verified. And Ancestral File does not tell you if the temple work has been done. To see when the ordinances were done, you need to log in as a member of the church, and look at the International Genealogical Index.

Good points. Once I download all my family records from Ancestral File, my next step is to run the names against IGI using PAF Insight. I'll still need to verify accuracy, but at least I'll know whether the temple work has been done.

And thanks for the info on the server problems.
