Co-worker Aaron barker found this bit of pseudo-blasphemy. I guess if you don't know that the iPhone has replaced Christ in the image, it just looks like an angelic heralding of the newest gadget. Hopefully they're not implying anything deeper...

Funny ( possibly inaccurate? ) bit of trivia: that "LDS painting" was actually painted by a non-member — who, the account goes, got quite the heat for portraying the scene without the classical Christian trappings.

    I thought the painter was a 7th Day Adventist.

Is the iPhone really the second coming? In my humble opinion, anything that does wild tricks like that is from the devil. And with 10% of our income going to tithing, how can we justify buying one of those devil machines?

Can we agree that this isn’t the most modest phone we would hope for in our LDS society?

@NAA: Yeah, that's what I recall, also...

@trwth: Man, I hope you're kidding.

Harry Anderson, the artist in question, is a seventh-day adventist. However, a lot of his works were commissioned by the church. I think this one may have been as well, as original sits in Independence, MO visitors center.

    My wife thought the original was in the Mormon Battallion Visitor's Center in San Diego, where she served her mission. I dunno!
