Sustaind.org is sick. :( If you're a PHP programmer, can you help us upgrade Sustain'd and get it working again? If interested, email richard AT moregoodfoundation DOT org.

Transhumanists see the trend of exponential advance in technology as evidence that a time of rapid disruptive change in the nature of humanity and the world is imminent. Are they now seeing, through scientific eyes, the signs of the day of transfiguration, as seen in times past through prophetic vision?

This is a huge paper in PDF format. That's kind of annoying, I think.

Yeah, I opposed it because of the annoying .pdf.

Agreed.. go to acrobat.com and get yourself a PDF plugin if you need to. (What's the big deal about PDF, anyway? I much prefer to read a scholarly paper in PDF, with all the nice formatting intact, than in HTML.)

If you're Mormon and have any interest in technology and the not-so-distant future, this really is a fascinating paper. Lots of interesting stuff on the web site too, especially the quotes from early LDS thinkers that are right in line with the many of the concepts of transhumanism.

Pretty interesting stuff, I'll give it a read when I have more time. If the definition of transhumanism in the headline is correct, yea, I think we Mormons are a good example of it.
