bullying at church

An amazing tale of personal experience about a truly perplexing problem and the discovery of the solution. Some sins need to be taken on directly.

Naiah,

Help me understand, is there something offensive here.

No, nothing offensive in the subject matter (beyond the offenses which, well, being offenses are necessarily offensive and certainly should be seen as offensive :), but I find the tone unnecessarily ascerbic for a piece that, towards the end purports to be constructive. There's what's offerend, and how it's offered. In this case, the how did not resonate well for me. That's all.

Not as a personal criticism, Doc, but do people really need to explain themselves when they oppose a story?

It did sound a little bitter in places, but it was a great piece that really gets at the most important issue facing Latter-day saints today: the huge gap between the way so many of us act, and the way our gospel teaches us to act. So many members seem to think the church's growth is mainly held back by the opposition and wickedness of people outside the church. The more I serve in the church, the more convinced I become that the poor example of some members is what really holds back the growth of God's kingdom.

Well, I agree with you. I tend to be not very tolerant of those who criticize the church or "Utah culture". Although, I recognize that many people go inactive due to existent members.

I think this explains that, although the LDS Church is the only true Church, still the membership of the LDS Church is not equivalent than to the Church of the Lamb of God.

I remember a few times as a kid that I felt bullied.. But as a Adult the members might not bully me and my family but they sure do ignore us..It's sad that members can be so hateful towards one another. If you don't make a lot of money or if you aren't the "right" size or if you have a member in your family that is disabled you are looked down on by other members of the church. Thank goodness that I know in my heart that the church is true, just because people aren't will not stop me from keeping the faith, There day will come and the Lord will judge accordling to how we treat one another.......
